Russian railways technology foresight to 2050 completed
The North-West Center for Strategic Research has completed a project on the foresight of the scientific and strategic development of Russian Railways until 2050. The CSR North-West Foundation acted as a co-executor of the National Intellectual Development Fund (Innopraktika). Coordination on the part of Russian Railways was carried out by the Center for Innovative Development of Russian Railways.
During a year and a half of the project a large amount of analytical work was carried out, dozens of interviews and four foresight sessions were conducted, in which more than 90 representatives of various organizations took part, including: JSC Russian Railways, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, VEB.RF, Federal Passenger Company, Federal Freight Company, Infrastructure Economy Center, Siemens PLM Software in Russia and CIS, First Freight Company, Web Engineering, Elteza, Rusatom Infrastructure Solutions, EnergyNet Infrastructure Center, NIR Foundation and many others.
Within the framework of the foresight, the following were considered: the great challenges of railroad development, digital transformation of the industry; global economic trends affecting the development of transport and railroads; business models of railroads, the development of which is associated with the emergence of new technologies; the target image of the holding company "Russian Railways" by 2050.
Special attention within the foresight was paid to: mobility technologies, new materials technologies, digital technologies, energy technologies, advanced manufacturing technologies, data transmission technologies (including quantum communication technologies) and others.
At the Open Innovations on December 07, 2021 a report was presented, prepared based on the results of the foresight by Innopraktika and CSR "North-West" for Russian Railways.
